Piedmont is a region in North Italy. The region capital of Piedmont is Turin, the second main working city in Italy and the rival of Milan. The mascot of Turin is the bull and these references are found all over the city as well as negative references in Milan. The other towns of the region are Cuneo, Asti, Alessandria, Biella, Vercelli, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and Novara. Piedmont borders France and Switzerland with Aosta Valley tucked at the top. Additionally, it shares a border with Lombardy, Liguria, and Emilia-Romagna. The name of the region comes from a Latin phrase meaning at the foot of the mountains. This is due to the many borders it shares with the Alps. One of the most popular Italian soccer teams, Juventus, is from this region. They are based in Turin also.
