1. THE FLOWERY RIVIERA, A PROCESSION OF HISTORICAL BOATS
The second Sunday of September in the Riviera del Brenta the event Riviera Fiorita will take place: a big procession of historical boats with a large number of extras and oarsmen will get down the Naviglio del Brenta.
The event starts in front of Villa Pisani in Stra(Venice), next the procession of boats will bring the Doge and the King in Dolo (Venice) and then the procession will continue until Villa Contarini dei Leoni in Mira, finally the procession will finish in Venice. The event will continue all over the Riviera del Brenta with music, dances and food and wine stands.
The Riviera del Brenta is an area close of Venice of particular tourist-cultural interest due to the great architectural heritage of the Venetian Villas built between the 15th and 18th centuries by the nobles of the Venetian Republic along the river Brenta.
The Naviglio of Brenta links the city of Padua and Venice, and then over the centuries has become the holiday resort of patrons coming from the two towns.
The Brenta villas are more than 4000, 20 of them can be visited. Some of these villas are works of famous architects such as Palladio (27 Venetian villas by Palladio are on the UNESCO list, as World Heritage).
