LOMBARDY

Lombardy is a large northern region and the richest in Italy. The main working city in the country, Milan, is the capital. There are many provinces in this region, twelve in total. Also, the Italian Lake District is here with the three main lakes of Como, Garda, and Maggiore. These are in the areas of Como, Lecco, and Varese. They are all above Milan, including Monza. Sondrio, Bergamo, and Brescia are to the north west and to the southwest is Mantova, Cremona, and Lodi. The last province not yet mentioned is to the south of the capital, Pavia. Milan is home to the iconic duomo, Italy’s largest church. Lombardy is known for many risotto dishes like Risotto Milanese, a saffron rice. Also, Milan is one of the world’s design and fashion. Additionally, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper is in Lombardy’s capital city.
