The Friuli Venezia Giulia is a region in Northeast Italy. The capital is Trieste and other main towns are Gorizia, Udine and Pordenone. It is on the border of Austria and Slovenia, and features the Dolomite mountain range. They are ideal for snow sports while the many vineyards are fantastic for white wines. Also, the Guinness Book of World Records names Grotta Gigante the world’s largest touristic cave. There is a small border on the Adriatic Sea. Therefore, during the summer months, it can also be a beach vacation.The region overall is great for outdoor activities. From sailing, skiing, biking, trekking, and more, this region has something to offer in every season. Additionally, white wines and prosciutto di San Daniele are must-tries for anyone visiting. Be sure not to get confused by the name. The city of Venice, (Venezia in Italian) is not in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It’s in Veneto.
